A message from our Chairman
W Bro James A Dalton ProvAGDC is the Five of Nine Club Chairman
Brethren,
I am hopeful that you have now had the opportunity to review the email and message on our website around COVID-19 and the suspension of Masonic activity for four months. This coming period will undoubtedly be challenging. Our RW Provincial Grand Master said it best when he wrote,
“This is the time when we must fully display those values of
Freemasonry to which we all aspire in our lodges, chapters, councils, conclaves, preceptories and
assemblages.”
I am extremely humbled and honoured to have been elected as the Chairman of our club. For those of you wanting to know a little more about me, there is a short bio available on our website.
Before I outline our new team, I want to take a moment to recognise some key individuals who have done some incredible work for the club over the past year and more. W Bro Carey Burke our Immediate Past Chairman, Brother Dan Norman our Immediate Past Deputy Chairman and Brother Warwick Wakefield our past Membership Secretary. These brethren have each given vast amounts of their time, often in the background, to ensuring that our club is run smoothly and for the benefit of us all. We all owe them a huge debt of gratitude.
Going forward we have assembled a new team with W Bro Carl Foster continuing as our Secretary, W Bro Will Watson joining us as our Treasurer and Bro Greg Sangster taking on the demanding role of Membership Secretary. Additionally, Bro Rab Cooper and Bro Ed Moore will continue to serve on our committee with responsibility for events.
Whilst our meetings have been suspended, this period gives us a wonderful opportunity to regroup and refocus on our members. We know that many club members will be new to Freemasonry, and many will be in Lodges where there may be an age gap between them and other brethren. Every Lodge has experienced mentors and we want to focus on offering these new Freemasons a way to add to the mentoring they already receive in their Lodges through developing a broader social contact throughout the Province.
We will be working in the coming months to develop activities for our return to regular meetings – including social activities, learning, development and community outreach projects. Our new and young members give us all passion and enthusiasm for our Craft through their curiosity. Your dedication to helping others will drive us to go further in supporting the communities where we live through giving our time.
Our social activities are and will continue to be open to all friends and family. Freemasonry is a family and these events extend beyond just our members.
Brethren, stay safe, stay at home if you can and I look forward to meeting you all soon.
Yours Sincerely and Fraternally,
James Dalton
Chairman
