Supporting Brethren in Warwickshire
Brethren,
I hope that you are all keeping well in these most uncertain times. Social distancing may have pushed us apart physically but let us not forget that our Craft teaches us to extend the hand of friendship to a brother however we can.
You may have seen the recent newsletter from Provincial Grand Lodge and noticed a reference to some work we are undertaking in the Province over this period.
We know that many of our brethren across Warwickshire will be isolating at home, either with their partners or in many cases alone. Following the government’s advice will hopefully, keep us all healthy but equally presents challenges in getting essential items. This is particularly true for those unable to leave their homes at all. Various health conditions mean that we have many members who are not able to visit the shop, pharmacy or get their daily exercise outdoors.
As a club we are fortunately placed due to our age demographic to support these brethren and their partners. Over this past week, we have begun to offer two key services to brethren within the province who may require our support.
Food shopping – Collecting a shopping list, bags and money from brethren in need. We then visit their local supermarket or shop and purchase the items, returning them to their doorstep.
Prescriptions – Collecting prescriptions from pharmacies and GP surgeries.
Both services can be delivered to brethren without compromising the social distancing we are all sadly becoming accustomed to.
Two brethren have already taken advantage of this offer and I can speak from personal experience when I say that it is extremely rewarding to be able to give some of my time to support those in need. Do not underestimate the value we can add at this time brethren.
You are receiving this email because you are either a Five of Nine member or have registered for email updates from us. I am asking for your help on behalf of all those in our Province who may feel isolated or unable to visit the shop or pharmacy. Volunteers at this time will make a huge difference to the success of our support and if you can give just some of your time to this effort, I know it will impact lives significantly.
If you are able to support us, without detriment to yourself or connections then I invite you to email me directly at the below email address with your contact details, where in the Province you can support and what times of the week you may be available.
Once again, I wish you all well and hope that you are staying safe and healthy.
Yours Sincerely and Fraternally,
James Dalton
