Five of Nine Visits Freemasons Hall

On Saturday 16th July, the Five of Nine Club together with Alma Mater Lodge visited Freemasons Hall in the heart of London - the home of English Freemasonry.

The day began with a coach trip from Birmingham to London. Complete with some early morning cocktails and a wonderful convivial atmosphere. On one of the hottest days this year, the air conditioned coach was appreciated by all.

After arriving in London, members were treated to a public tour of the historic Freemasons Hall. The tour included the Masonic Peace Memorial, Grand Temple, Egyptian Room (Lodge Room 10) and the Museum of Freemasonry - where the original Five of Nine Club tie is on proud display (donated by the RW Provincial Grand Master - Philip L Hall).

Following the Freemasons Hall tour, members headed to the Hercules Pillars Pub for lunch - bonding and chatting over great pub food and some much needed liquid refreshments.

After lunch was the real highlight of the day - the Masonic walking tour of London. On this two hour excursion, members were lead by W Bro Mike Neville through some of London’s most fascinating Masonic stories; from Benjamin Franklin to Lord Nelson to the story behind how the infamous Ronnie Biggs was finally captured thanks to a little comment at a Festive Board!

After the tour, members headed back to Birmingham, where further cocktails and great conversation made the two hour coach journey disappear in no time.
