A Statement from our Chairman - W Bro James Dalton

To the Five of Nine Membership,

Three years ago, I was honoured to be elected as the Chairman of Warwickshire’s New and Young Masons Club – The Five of Nine Club. As one of the first such clubs throughout the English constitution I felt a great sense of responsibility to guide us into the future and build on the incredible work undertaken by my predecessors.

It is a point of pride for me that we have achieved much over the past three years. When the Coronavirus pandemic hit in 2020, you, our members stepped up and supported dozens of elderly and vulnerable brethren throughout Warwickshire with essential shopping, prescription collections and befriending.

Coming out of the pandemic, we have restarted social events and Masonic education through events like our curry nights, inter-lodge and inter-provincial visits. Our visit to Freemasons Hall this summer will remain in my mind as a personal highlight.

We have also become one of the first NYMCs in the country to launch our own podcast – with a variety of guests covering all manner of topics related to Freemasonry and always through the lens of our new and young members.

It is said in our ceremonies that Freemasonry is a progressive science. Renewal is at the heart of our craft, and this is no more demonstrated than by the progression through the three degrees together with the annual installation in each Lodge – where the Worshipful Master is succeeded by a new brother.

It is now time for me to move on from the Chairman role and for us to elect a successor. I am fortunate to have been given the support of a dedicated and enthusiastic committee during my tenure and I am certain that they will provide the same level of focus and energy in support of our new Chairman.

Finally, I wish to thank all our members for their support over these past three years. It has been an incredible privilege to hold this role and one I will always look back on with fondness. I shall continue to support the new Chairman in an advisory capacity - should he wish me to.

An EGM will be held at 16:00 on Sunday 4th December 2022 at the Coventry Masonic Hall, 165 Warwick Road, Coventry in order to elect a new Chairman. All active club members are invited to attend.

Yours S&F,

James
